In traditional Vastu understanding, the energetic balance of a home is believed to be disturbed under certain conditions such as the presence of a beehive inside the house, prolonged vacancy of the space for around six months, or significant structural modifications. In such situations, it is often suggested that the dwelling may require a renewed energetic cleansing or even a Vastu Puja to restore harmony within the space. Alongside these practices, one of the primary methods of purification recommended is the chanting of the Vastu mantra “Vastoshpate” from the Rig Veda. This practice is ideally performed while moving through each room of the house, accompanied by the gentle light of a diya or the fragrance of incense, allowing the environment to be symbolically and energetically cleansed.
The mantra used for this purpose is:
ओम् वास्तोष्पते प्रति जानीह्यस्मान् त्स्वावेशो अनमीवो à¤à¤µान् ।
यत् त्वेमहे प्रति तन्नो जुषस्व शं नो à¤à¤µ द्विपदे शं चतुष्पदे ॥
Om Vaastoshpate Prati Jaanihyasmaan Swaawesho Anamee Vo Bhavaan |
Yat Tvemahe Prati Tanno Jushaswa Sham No Bhava Dwipade Sham Chatushpade ||
