Astrology is meant to teach us how to live, not how to fear the planets. People generally believe that astrology is the art of predicting the future, but the best ones believed that astrology is not the art of knowing the future; it is the art of shaping the future. However, because of these deceitful pandits, people become so frightened that they remain constantly worried about planets.

Astrological knowledge is said to be the third eye of the Vedas. Remember this clearly: no matter what kind of yoga exists in a horoscope, one should not fear it, because planets always give results based on one’s karma. People pay astrologers thousands of rupees to conduct rituals, yet receive no benefit, because most astrologers themselves do not regularly chant their guru mantra or even the Gayatri mantra.

Once, the elders went to meet a saint who had very deep knowledge of astrology. They said to him, “Dear Lord, please teach us a little astrology as well.” The saint replied, “Why a little? I can teach you all of astrology — it is just mathematics. But your predictions will come true only when God’s grace is upon you.” They immediately understood what the saint meant. They never again asked him to teach them astrology. They continued reading horoscopes only based on what they had learned from their teachers. The essence is this: the guru mantra given by one’s Gurudev is the true foundation of astrology.

This post is for understanding what Gandmool actually is. According to astrology, there are 27 nakshatras. Out of these, six nakshatras are such that if a person is born in them, it is called Gandmool. Three of these nakshatras are under the influence of Ketu, and three are under the influence of Mercury. Those born in Magha, Moola, Jyeshtha, Ashwini, Ashlesha, and Revati nakshatras are considered afflicted by Gandmool.
