Wavy Hair and Curly Hair Are Not the Same

 

Wavy hair — लहरदार बाल.

Curly hair — गुच्छेदार बाल.

These two are often treated as if they are the same thing, but astrologically they can indicate very different influences.

Curly hair is frequently attributed to Venus, but I do not think that interpretation is entirely accurate. A dense, strongly curled, or tightly textured hair pattern is more commonly associated with a pronounced influence of Saturn and Rahu. Their influence tends to produce a heavier, rougher, more pronounced texture rather than the soft flow associated with Venus.

Wavy hair, on the other hand, is much more naturally connected with Venus. Venus gives softness, movement, texture, grace, and aesthetic appeal. There is something fluid about Venusian beauty, and wavy hair reflects that quality beautifully.

In some circumstances, Venus can also give silky, straight hair, particularly when Venus is strongly placed or associated with benefic signs and planets. The expression changes according to the overall condition of Venus and the influences acting upon it.

There is also an interesting detail hidden in our traditional imagery.

Look at the way the Divine Feminine is depicted in Indian art.

The hair of Devi is very rarely shown as rigid or completely lifeless. It often falls in beautiful waves, flowing freely around Her face and shoulders. There is movement, softness, sensuality, and grace in it.

That imagery itself carries a distinctly Venusian quality.

So I would make the distinction quite clearly:

Wavy hair — Venusian.

Silky straight hair — Venus, particularly when well-supported.

Dense, tightly curly hair — more strongly associated with Saturn and Rahu.

Hair is only one physical indication, of course, and no single feature should be judged independently of the entire horoscope. But when the planetary symbolism is examined closely, the difference between a wave and a curl becomes surprisingly meaningful.
