Sometimes, a person reaches a certain level of maturity very early in life where praise simply stops producing the same excitement it once did.
Someone may praise their work, their intelligence, their appearance, or their achievements. They may appreciate it, of course, but they are no longer dependent on it.
And then someone criticises them.
Instead of immediately becoming defensive, they stop and ask themselves a different question:
Is there something here that I need to see?
Perhaps the criticism is unfair. Perhaps the other person is projecting their own insecurities. But perhaps there is also something in it that needs to be corrected, changed, or evolved.
This is a very unusual state of mind.
A person who is addicted to praise will do anything to receive more of it. A person who is terrified of criticism will do anything to avoid it. Both remain controlled by the opinions of others.
But when a person becomes equally detached from praise and humiliation, something changes.
They no longer need to protect an image of themselves.
This is one of the ways in which the conjunction of Jupiter, Saturn, and Ketu can manifest.
Jupiter gives the ability to learn.
Saturn gives the humility to confront one's shortcomings.
Ketu removes the attachment to recognition.
Together, they can create a person who does not need to be constantly told that they are right, intelligent, talented, or successful.
They are more interested in understanding what is true.
And sometimes, criticism becomes more valuable to them than praise—not because they enjoy being insulted, but because praise often confirms what they already believe about themselves.
Criticism, on the other hand, can reveal what they have not yet understood.
That is where growth begins.
