☄️🌑 Rahu & Ketu: Symbolic Psychology of Desire and Detachment in Vedic Thought

In Vedic astrology, Rahu and Ketu are not physical planets but mathematical lunar nodes, often interpreted as symbolic forces representing desire and detachment.

From a traditional interpretive perspective, Ketu is associated with letting go, withdrawal, introspection, and the dissolution of attachment. It is often linked with inner awareness, spiritual inclination, and the tendency to seek meaning beyond material experience.

Rahu, in contrast, is associated with craving, ambition, expansion of desire, and the pursuit of worldly experience. It represents the drive toward acquisition, exploration, and intense engagement with material life.

In symbolic psychological interpretation, these two forces are understood as a dynamic polarity: Rahu pulls the mind outward toward experience and accumulation, while Ketu pulls consciousness inward toward simplification and detachment.

Some philosophical interpretations suggest that excessive attachment (Rahu dominance) can lead to dissatisfaction, while excessive withdrawal (Ketu dominance) can lead to disinterest in worldly engagement. The balance between the two is therefore seen as essential for stable living.

However, classical astrology does not state that one automatically “gives rise to the results of the other” in a literal or guaranteed way. Outcomes depend on the full horoscope, planetary strength, and timing periods (dashas).

Thus, Rahu and Ketu are best understood as complementary principles of experience and release—where growth arises not from choosing one over the other, but from integrating desire with awareness, and action with detachment.
