When you are reading or learning something new, avoid resting your spine against the back of the chair. Sit upright with your spine unsupported and naturally aligned.
This small adjustment changes the quality of your attention. Instead of sinking into a passive state, your body remains alert, engaged, and receptive. The posture itself signals to the mind that what you are engaging with matters.
In Vedic understanding, Jupiter—the ruler of the 9th house—governs wisdom, higher knowledge, and the expansion of understanding. The spine is seen as the primary channel through which this higher awareness moves. When the spine is upright and free, the flow remains uninterrupted.
Leaning back, on the other hand, tends to dull this channel, making learning more passive and less integrated. Over time, this can reduce retention and depth of comprehension.
By maintaining a vertical, unsupported spine, you create the right internal condition for knowledge to not just be received, but absorbed and retained with clarity.
